OKAY. IRL update (complete with heaps of photos!! YAY!!)!

So 6kittykat6 came down last week for a few days and it was AWESOME!! We talked, cooked, read, watched Supernatural, went shopping, GOT FREE FRINGE TRIMS (and Kate GOT A FRINGE HOMG), played with make-up and just sat around and soaked up each others awesomeness, LMAO. Hopefully we shall have photos soon mebbe? LOL. *LOOKS AT KATE POINTEDLY* XDDD

Also, I met this guy there who was in my audio class in my final year of my previous degree. I was talking to this other guy about Star Trek and Duncan (that's his name) came over looking like he'd walked out of a Japanese girl's magazine (he does not pull this look off well btw) and starts ranting and being all high-brow about STAR TREK. And how this girl he was talking to CLAIMED to be a big Star Trek fan but OMFG DIDN'T EVEN KNOW THE NAME OF THE COMMANDER IN DS9. LYK, ZOMGWTF. UGH. I don't know what it is about him, but I can't help be mean to this guy whenever I talk to him. I think it's because he's all elitist about fandom... like... seriously? I'm a member of hogwarts_elite for Christ sakes, and I don't rant at people who don't know who Professor Trelawney is or whatever. UGH. That's not the way to treat someone who's only just jumped on the ship. You think they'll want to be around other fans if they get beaten down every time they don't know something about a series they haven't even got around to? Because, you know... it's not like there's like 30 seasons to get through or anything... *EYE ROLLS* Anyway. I was mean to him and was left feeling both bad and good about it, LMAO.

Also, my friend (who we used to call Spock at college - and whose name is embarrassing in my address book because his last name is Dick (Spock Dick, LMAO)) asked if I'd like to sell this painting to him! :O I'm thinking about either a) doing another one on canvas and/or b) taking a digital copy in to be screen printed/printed on canvas/printing paper and doing like, 10 copies or something and selling them online... would anyone here be interested in a print? :D

AND. I have no idea in regards to price for an original paint job on canvas... The picture is 16"x12" on canvas and is ready to hang. What do you guys think would be a reasonable price to quote?

Today Jo and I went to see New Moon at the cinema. We had to sit away from people so we could mock it without ruining it for other people. I may hate Twilight, but I don't want to ruin it for people who do like it. I know how I'd feel if someone did it to me in HP or something. Anyway, I was left feeling anger, amusement and skull numbing boredom, LMAO. They had Team Edward, Team Jacob and Team Switzerland badges for sale. I wanted a Team Buffy one :( LOL.

I've often been told that people like my enthusiasm.

And yet, it's only been the last year or so that I realised I was enthusiastic. A year ago, I would probably have described myself as "passionate" or "obsessive" or "excitable" as opposed to "enthusiastic". I don't know whether it's because I'm thick or whatever, but it's taken me a long period of time to realise that yeah... I'm enthusiastic! LMAO.

Yes, I'm terribly excitable. Obsessive, no doubt! And yes, passionate, deeply passionate. But yeah... enthusiastic as well!

When I think about things that have really got me happy over the past few years, they are small things that mean a lot to me personally. A lot of people would look at these things and go "... and?", LOL, but pfft to them! XDDD

Damnit, Jim, it's the little things that make life great! And great trumpeting trousers, life IS great! It makes me wanna jump up and down and dance to Katrina and the Waves and skip down the street and hug random chubby kids and give them muffins to go with their muffin tops!!

And I think that's the difference, to me, between being passionate or obsessive or excitable... I think enthusiasm is the overarching umbrella of being able to see life's awesome, in all its small and sparkly parts! You can be passionate or obsessive or even excitable about a topic or subject, but to be enthusiastic you have to be able to also look at the grand scheme of things and go HELLA TO THE YEAH, THIS IS AWESOME!! XDDD Personally, I'd define enthusiasm as being able to be swept up in LIFE.

My own personal philosophy that I came up with is... to lead an enjoyable, full life, you must find happiness in the mundane. Find that one, everyday thing, that makes your heart beat faster (beware if that happiness is found in junk food though because that fast pumping heart may be leading to a coronary in that instance, LMAO) and don't be afraid to think that "YEAH. THAT IS AWESOME, AND I AM GOING TO GET BLOODY EXCITED ABOUT THIS!"

And I do believe that you can choose to be enthusiastic. And yeah, it can seriously be hard! Being optimistic and enthusiastic is very difficult a lot of the time. But I believe that being a force of positive energy in the world will help a lot more people than you might think. And those people who try and bring you down (and believe me, they'll be out there) might just need a bit of your enthusiasm to turn their own lives around. IT'S LIKE H1N1: FUCKING CONTAGIOUS.

I REALLY should be asleep but last night I went to a 21st and now my internal clock is all out of whack, LMAO. It was an awesome party though! Fancy dress with the theme being movies! There were some GREAT costumes there... I WAS going to go as a Vulcan but I couldn't find the right ears in time (I had a go with plasticine but it didn't work :( LOL). So I was just a boring human Starfleet officer. I DID make a communicator though! From a Spiderman camera, tape and reflective card... ^^; HAHA XDDD SHUT UP. IT'S TOTALLY TOS.

So I actually drew this AGES ago... >.> LOL. Believe it or not I won second prize at the Supanova fanart competition for it ^^; LOL. I just had it with me in my folder and thought, "WHY THE HELL NOT?!" and submitted it on a whim. I actually feel bad about that tbh ^^; LOL.

Anyway, it's officially the 22nd of September here in Australia, which makes it Tom Felton's 22nd birthday! So yeah. Here he is! LOL. Mostly 9B pencil I seem to recall... It's not perfect, but pfft. It'll do XD

Btw, it's always interesting when people say, "I wish I could draw"... I'm sorry to say, like everything, it's all just practice! LOL. The thing with people who do art, is that a) they do it regularly, and b) they NEED to draw. I know that if I haven't drawn something in a while, I feel just... WRONG. I don't know how to explain it. It's like this tension that gets coiled up inside you that can only be quenched by... DRAWINGS!! XDDDDD

ANYWAY. To PROVE it's all just practice, here's a comparison for you: 2005 and 2008


These were two times that I REALLY tried to draw Draco. I mean REALLY tried. When I was done, I thought on both occasions, "FINALLY. I GOT DRACO RIGHT HOMG." LOL. Yeah. Three years makes a big difference, haha XDDDD My vision of Draco hasn't really changed, but the way I go about drawing him sure has! XDDDD Ahough I will admit that that is a pretty good set of hands from 2005... that's definitely the best of a usually bad lot, LOL. I do have an EMBARRASSINGLY BAD picture that I drew of him in 2004 if anyone is BRAVE enough to handle the fucking LONG HAIR and horrendous LACK OF HANDS. "Oh, they're in a team photo >.> Yes... hands behind back, I think... >.>" XDDDD

buttfacemakani and I were talking the other day about improving as an artist, and how the only thing that seems to change is that as you get better, you think your stuff is worse, HAHA. Which is SO TRUE. That picture of Tom up there? I don't REALLY like... ^^; I can see SO MUCH wrong with it, LOL. I'm waaaaay happier with those other two pictures there and they were from a YEAR and FOUR YEARS ago!! XDDDD

SO. It was announced today that this next term of hogwarts_elite would be its last. Even though I've known about it for a couple of weeks, it still totally was like a whack to the head to see the post :(

I've been a member of hogwarts_elite for basically all of of my Uni life! I joined in July of 2005 thanks to a recommendation from buttfacemakani (and Heather and I were just starting our friendship then too! GAH. SO MANY AWESOME H_E MEMORIES!!) and I've loved EVERY SINGLE MINUTE OF IT.

I wouldn't have gone to the USA if it weren't for H_E! Simple as that. And I wouldn't have all the AMAZING friends I have.

We had a contest over at hogwarts_elite where we had to do an EXTREME MACRO of something to do with Harry Potter, and it inspired me to do a series of GQBAMF!Harry Potter stuff, LMAO.

First off, they didn't get IN a huge Draco poster, only Harry, Ron and Hermione (LAME), but they DID have this cardboard stand thing with him on it that I put my name down for and I put $10 on each of the trio anyway. Then I get a phone call saying that someone's put up $50 for Harry, $31 for Hermione and @20 for Ron, so I decide to put up $65 for Harry and $30 for Ron and forget about Hermione (LOL). THEN. I go in last week only to find that they didn't contact me to say that I'd been outbid on both Harry and Ron. Okay, I thought, I still have my Draco cardboard stand thing! YAY!!

The lady there went looking for it and couldn't find it. She rang me later in the afternoon to say that APPARENTLY they'd rung me earlier in the week and I'd told them, I DIDN'T WANT IT ANY MORE, so they THREW IT OUT!!!!!!!

I LOVED doing the Art Movement one. SO. MUCH. FUN. And I actually did arts!! YAY!! One I quite like, and one that's ehhhh worthy, LOL. Of course I spent more time on the ehhh worthy one. Always the way, isn't it? LOL. Enjoyed the graphics I've done so far too, so yay!!

I think I'm basically done... I have to do the GQMF prompt, but I'm not sure I'll get a chance to do the rest :( I have to study for a test on Tuesday. MEH. I'd blow it off, but it's worth 50% of my mark so.... yeah... LMAO XDDD

This was my entry into the smrw_ficafest as a gift for the wonderful, ldymusyc :D

I actually started drawing this, like... six months ago now, LOL. Took for FREAKING EVER to colour, but I'm pretty happy with it!

The prompts I chose were: Rose AND/OR Scorpius are professional Quidditch players -- On the same team. Anywhere: The World Cup. A Nimbus broom.

I made Scorpius all romantic and *holds her face tenderly* and then had her grabbing his broom and belt >.> LOL. ldymusyc said I could go up to NC-17, but this is about as far as I've drawn them, so I'm like, "Just throw a whole bunch of smutty innuendo, I MEAN, ~*~ARTISTIC SYMBOLISM~*~ on it. It'll be FINE." XDDD

The Nimbus Infinity part was so last minute. Like, I was finishing it and looked at the drawing and was like, "HO SHIZ. NAME ON THE BROOM." LOL. And ldymusyc specified a Nimbus Broom, so I'm all, "CRAP CRAP CRAP NIMBUS UHMMMM... Well, Nimbus is a kind of cloud, so like, Never ending Nimbus? OH. NIMBUS INFINITY. YES. SCORE. GO WITH IT", LMAO XDDD So yes. That was that story XDDD

And I just got a lovely surprise today, because mollywheezy actually wrote a fanfiction to go along with it!! HOMG!! Fanfic inspired from my art?! WOW. It's so cool to see this WHOLE STORY from ONE LITTLE PICTURE!! You can check that out here!! buttfacemakani, Clay and I SkypeArted the other week, and we were doing deities. buttfacemakani had uh... a Moon Goddess, I think(?)... with a SHIV, LMAO. And Clay had the Goddess of Fortune, who had the traits of a Jackal :D

Anyway, mine was meant to be the God of the Forest. But I have this idea for a supernaturalish/greenie novel... and one of the main characters is "of the earth"... and I kinda like him for that... IDK. NEEDS MOAR DEVELOPMENT.

SO YES. httpoet and I had a HUGE Star Trek day where we watched all of Star Trek 1-6 films (and the episode of Psych with George Tekei, LOL) *THUD* I think that III and VI are definitely my faves :D And I don't care what people say about V, I liked it, damnit! XDDDD

Also. I think my favourite character in Star Trek is actually... Doctor McCoy ^^; It's been a long time coming, but EVERYTIME he opens his mouth, whether it be in canon or fanon, I just LOVE HIM. LMAO. Crap. Wish I'd known this BEFORE I met Karl Urban *HEADDESKS* XDDD

So I'm actually crying right now. Happy tears.

I was just going through a person's favourites on deviantART, and all of a sudden, I had this overwhelming feeling of love for Harry Potter. I know that seems to be a strange thing to cry over, but I seriously just couldn't help it.

Looking at these amazing pieces of art, happy and sad, joyous and heartbroken, small everyday moments and big life-changing events, the Marauders, the Trio, the Malfoys, the Professors, the Order, the Death Eaters... how insanely lucky are we to have these guys? How lucky are we to have been around when these books were being released?

How lucky are we to have found each other- friendships founded on a love for something so deep and meaningful to all of us?

Is anyone else absolutely overwhelmed by the sheer amount of inspiration that this series has conjured up? The amount of talent that has blossomed under its care?

Merlin. No wonder I'm crying.

I could go on and use capitals and try to explain the absolute love that I feel right now, but I don't think words can possibly convey the amount of love in my heart for everyone I have ever had the absolute privilege of meeting, talking to, listening to, learning from, arguing with, being inspired by because of Harry Potter.

To my Harry Potter friends: Thank you so much for inspiring me. Thank you so much for flailing with me. Thank you so much for the all night Skype talks. Thank you so much for drawing with me.
